Excerpt from a 1 February 2012 article titled “Citizens Speak out about Comp Plan”:

It looked as those in favor of Chesterfield County’s new draft countywide comprehensive plan stayed home last Wednesday when the Board of Supervisors listened to comments during a public hearing.

Over 30 citizens took to the podium to express their opinion of the draft plan that has cost more than a $1 million to produce and has taken three years to wind its way to Chesterfield’s Board of Supervisors. Only a few speakers expressed total support of the draft plan. One speaker focused on transportation; mostly public transportation routes.

…

Many of the speakers expressed their concern for the plan because of their opinion that the comprehensive plan is part of a wider effort called Agenda 21.

Agenda 21 is an action plan of the United Nations related to sustainable development and was an outcome of the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development held in 1992. It is a comprehensive blueprint of action to be taken in every area in which humans directly affect the environment.

Area Tea Party groups have begun to speak out on their opposition to sustainable development, environment and property rights.

To say that this is an important year in our nation’s history is quite the understatement. “Historical” is a better adjective, but even that doesn’t seem to reflect the dire situation that America is facing. In November, we will decide how our great country moves forward. In my mind, there are two choices: 1. Socialism, and the end of the Great American Experiment. Or 2. A striking and deliberate return to the principles of our Founding Fathers, and the salvation of an idea for which so many have fought to protect: Liberty. The choice will be of the present, but it shall be heard ringing deep into our nation’s future. The magnitude of the moment is clear to me. Sadly, many people do not see it the way I do.

People in our federal government are actively seeking to destroy everything we have come to know and love about America, and how she was founded. The Constitution has been under relentless assault by this President, who routinely disrespects America’s most sacred document and the laws it sets forth. Most of our government leaders in Congress have fallen far short of our expectations, save a few freshmen with gravitas. There is nothing that impassions me more than the thought of protecting this country, for which I so deeply love. As a 28-year old veteran, many could say that I have already done my patriotic duty. I am proud of my military service, but now, as a civilian, I have been seeking new ways to continue my fight for the noble Cause. Thankfully, I have found a group of individuals who share my ideals. And the future is looking bright.

The Richmond Tea Party was established in February 2009. It has grown to become the largest of the Tea Party movements in Virginia, and I am one of their newest members. During my orientation, it became immediately clear that I was once again among patriots. For the first time since I left the military, I didn’t feel alone. We recited the pledge of allegiance, hands over hearts, as I had once done in the days of my youth. I felt a sweeping relief as I suddenly realized that there are others who are just as restless and have never lost hope. The moment was powerful.

I believe that there are many, like me, who are looking for a way to make a difference in the future of our country. The Tea Party, on a national level, has already begun to shape our return to Constitutional integrity. The results of the 2010 congressional elections were a giant step in that direction. The fight, however, has only just begun. And there is nothing more satisfying to me than knowing that I will be a part of it…part of the Great Cause of our time. As Thomas Paine wrote, “The sun never shined on a cause of greater worth.” It is time to wake up and embrace the sunlight once again.

With the likes of Ben Marchi, and Coby Dillard both establishment republicans how genuine is this list of supporters? Already the rebuttals are coming out. Kerry Scott wrote on Bearing Drift:

My name was used without my consent. I have not given George Allen’s campaign my endorsement in any way shape or form. while I am the leader of the Alexandria Tea Party, and am not associated with the NOVA TEA group, my tea party does not endorse candidates, we are an education focused group. If there is another Kerry Scott who is a tea party leader I have not heard of him/her in the two plus years I have been involved with the tea party movement. I have called Allen’s campaign office and demanded a retraction. I am requesting that you make your readers aware that Allen did not seek nor obtain my permission. I am a private citizen and am very unhappy with this situation.

Did anyone proof this list? Daniel Cortez created his group “Virginia Tea Party Patriots for George Allen” and yet it is full of a bunch of Republican stooges. You can’t put lipstick on a pig and call it a beautiful woman after all.

More will follow and if you are a person on this list then please give your reasoning as someone that believes in smaller government and as a person who is Taxed Enough Already, how it is that you can support a man like George Allen with his spending record. YIKES! or even better, let us know if you are on this list but gave no such endorsement.

Virginia Tea Party Patriots Endorse George Allen for U.S. Senate

Henrico, VA – Today George Allen received the endorsement of over 100 Tea Party Patriots throughout the Commonwealth, led by Coby Dillard, Co-Founder of the Hampton Roads Tea Party, Laura Alcorn, Co-Founder of the Richmond Patriots, Strother Smith, President of the 10th Amendment Foundation, Ben Marchi, former State Director of Americans for Prosperity and conservative Tea Party activists Tito Munoz and Carl Tate. These Tea Party Patriots cited George Allen’s strong record on fiscal responsibility, individual liberty and his unwavering commitment to protect and stand up for the Constitution of the United States.

“Governor Allen’s belief in Tea Party principles is evident in his desire to cut government spending and bring a greater degree of accountability to Washington,” said Coby Dillard, Co-Founder of the Hampton Roads Tea Party. “When elected, I believe he will carry our shared beliefs to the halls of the Senate, and continue the fight to leave a more fiscally responsible nation as a gift to future generations.”

“George Allen will restrain this over-reaching federal government and preserve the individual freedoms and rights that our Founders envisioned. He has a proven track record of implementing pro-growth policies that help businesses create jobs, and the experience we need to get it done,” said Laura Alcorn, Co-Founder of the Richmond Patriots. “George Allen is a true conservative leader who shares our core principles. We know he will fight for our Virginia values and we are proud to fight with him.”

“The reckless policies coming out of Washington are eroding our liberties and bankrupting our future,” said conservative Tea Party activist Carl Tate. “Now, more than ever, we need George Allen’s strong, steady leadership to get our country back on track and help America ascend again. The path we are on leads to crushing debt, high unemployment and a dangerous dependency on the federal government. George Allen is a proven, conservative leader who will fight for our values and we need him back in the U.S. Senate.”

They acquired no permits, followed no regulations, paid no fees, and broke the law for their continued presence. In contrast, the Richmond Tea Party held three separate Tax Day Rallies in the same location, for which we acquired every permit, followed every regulation, paid every fee, and adhered to every law for the few hours we remained. We did everything the City of Richmond asked of us; the same city, though, asked nothing of Occupy Richmond.

On October 26th, the Richmond Tea Party decided we had had enough.

From our press release that day:

“In keeping with the principles of our founders the Richmond Tea party has decided to rectify this blatantly unequal application of the laws—including punishing us for being law-abiding citizens and rewarding the Occupiers for ignoring the law—by sending an invoice to the Mayor’s office of the City of Richmond for a full refund of all charges we paid for our three previous rallies. We hope the city will honor the trust people have empowered them with and faithfully adhere to the principle of equal application of the law by refunding our money for the use of Kanawha Plaza in the past.”

On October 28th, we hand-delivered an invoice for approximately $8,500 to Mayor Jones’s office, along with a form for him to complete by listing all City of Richmond laws that are optional so we can have it for future reference. At least two Richmond City Council members already stated that we are owed a refund. We are told we will receive a prompt response to our letter, but if it doesn’t adequately address our concerns, we will continue to pressure the Mayor’s office.

This issue of unequal application of the law is not unique to Richmond: it’s happening all across the nation. But what the Richmond Tea Party is doing to combat it should be replicated wherever a Tea Party paid a fee for demonstrating while an Occupy group has not had to pay for the same space. This is not an attack on the Occupy groups, but on the governments who are selecting winners and losers based on political preferences, punishing the Tea Party for observing the law and rewarding the Occupiers for ignoring it. This type of injustice cannot go unchallenged; Tea Parties should call it out wherever and whenever they encounter it.

To this point, the peaceful, law-abiding Tea Parties (still no arrests after two and a half years of enormous protests and rallies) have been maligned by the media and career politicians—the same people now favoring the Occupy movement that has openly called for violence and produced thousands of arrests (so far) and even some rapists. We have a chance to reverse the narrative now, though, as RTP’s call to be refunded blew up into national news within a day (see here, here, and here for starters, and here for our own Colleen Owens on Fox News Business discussing it) and ignited a bonfire of support for our cause hotter than I’ve seen in a long time, including personal offers to help both financially and legally in our battle for equality under the law.

Our little press release has served to highlight the clear differences between the approaches of the Tea Party and the Occupiers and the double standard in dealing with the two groups by those in authority. And the public is seeing it clearly. Polls are now turning sharply against the Occupy groups.

If the rest of the Tea Party movement replicates our approach and forces the issue of equal application of the law wherever possible, we will win this argument handily and take another step closer to restoring our nation to its founding principles.

The campaign targets 7 left-wing Democrat State Senators and seeks to elect conservative Republican candidates, many of whom have been overlooked by the major Republican Party PACS.

“Many pundits and operatives think that the best Republicans and conservatives can hope for this year in Virginia is picking up 2-3 seats. We feel very strongly that conservatives can pick up as many as nine seats currently held by Democrats,” said Karen Miner Hurd, Executive Director of the Virginia Tea Party Alliance which is spearheading the “Beyond 21” campaign.

“Our recent polling shows that President Obama and his policies have alienated voters of across the spectrum here in Virginia, and there is a tremendous surge in renewed conservative energy,” Hurd said. “That resurgence means that projections of a three or four seat gain are pessimistic and that Senate Republicans need to look at going beyond 21 and towards 24 or even 27 or 28 seats.”

The goal of Beyond 21 is to do much more than just boost Republican Party numbers. Says Hurd, “We are not looking to elect a merely a Republican majority, but a strong conservative majority in the Virginia State Senate”.

The Left has given us their playbook. Now we’re going to use it.

“The reality is that Democratic incumbents across the state will have to answer for the Obama Administration policies that they have supported implementing here in Virginia,” Hurd added.

“Virginians and Americans are fed up with endless bailouts, government run health care and increased government control over our jobs and our daily lives. They have used their majority in the State Senate to increase the financial burden and regulation on the average Virginian”.

Hurd said the election initiative will involve grass-roots targeted door-to-door activities, radio ads and what she called “guerilla social media.”

“The left has given us their playbook. Now we’re going to use it,” Hurd said.

The Alliance launched a money bomb on September 22. Donors can choose the candidate or the specific action they wish to fund. The group’s political target list can be found at http://beyond21.org.

The Next Greatest Generation
Written by Scott Cooper

As we speed down the super-highway towards financial Armageddon, each of us must ask ourselves, as individuals – am I a giver or am I a taker? Will I help prevent the collapse, or will I enhance it? Am I okay with my grandkids having a lesser lifestyle, paying my debt so that I don’t have to sacrifice?

The fact is, if we do not stop the Ferrari speeding down this financial super-highway, it will lead to the end of our republic. We will be responsible for our republic’s demise.

Over the course of the last several decades, government revenue has gone up consistently, as has government spending. Raising more revenue is not the solution. Individual and fiscal responsibility is. We must realize that the entitlement mentality and dependency that our government has created and forced upon us is unsustainable.

Ultimately, the takers do not care about the future of our republic – and they currently are in control. They are the most vocal.

Most troubling is the silence of the millions who are not yet ready to personally engage in this battle and sacrifice. By their silence, they indicate that they are on the side of the takers. Unless this changes, our republic will collapse. Are you one of the silent ones?

If you are willing to sacrifice in order to steer us back to the right track – what does that mean you are willing to give up? How are you going to formulate that in your own mind, and then begin to prepare for your own independence from whatever dependency you must give up, and then articulate that to the powers that be? This is not going to be an easy task, because literally everyone is on the take – from Agriculture subsidies, home mortgage interest deductions, all the way to cell phone subsidies. This is a huge problem, but I believe the American people can rise to the occasion.

I don’t believe that the generation of the 1940’s alone was the greatest generation. I believe that our grandkids will refer to us as “the next” greatest generation.

Our grandparents were amazing people. Many went off to foreign lands to fight tyranny. Those that remained at home focused all their attention on basic survival and producing for the war effort. Women and children both took on important jobs that they had never done, or even considered doing before. The financial sacrifice they gave was phenomenal. Of those that did not leave their jobs to go fight the war, many returned to their “home-place” to live with extended family, in order to make ends meet and support their extended family. The sacrifice at home was just as significant as the sacrifice that was given on the battlefields thousands of miles away from home. Nothing can ever be taken away from their sweat, toil, blood and sacrifice. Their sacrifice saved freedom for the world – for our parents, and for our generation. For that, we are eternally grateful.

Now it is our turn. The reason I believe our grandchildren will look back and refer to us as the “new” greatest generation, is because while our grandparents went to foreign lands to fight tyranny, our generation must rise up to fight against tyranny in our own land. We will even be required to intellectually fight against tyranny with well-meaning people we have considered friends. This is going to include fighting to dismantle the bureaucracy we have allowed our Federal, State and Local governments to create. These bureaucracies are growing at exponential, unsustainable rates. Many will fight indefinitely to keep this leviathan, not because it is right, but because it is in their self-interest to do so. That is ok, many colonists in the war of 1776 stood with the king as well.

My entire life I have heard about “The Draft.” Being born in the late 1960’s, I was not subject to it. Well, let me assure you, there is currently a draft taking place in our country today. Actually it is a voluntary enlistment. This enlistment effort to save our republic is not taking place by governments at any level or even at the political party level. Both parties have led us to the brink of this disaster – do we really believe they can rescue us from precipice of collapse?

The new “Draft / Enlistment” is a call to action by the citizenry. Like King George was not fond of the early American Patriots – Our current administration (Vice President Biden) refers to this citizenry as terrorists.

A mental picture of our enlistment effort is in the movie “The Patriot” when Benjamin Martin and his son split up and go into the communities and churches to find recruits. Their effort was a grassroots effort to enlist all able bodied men to fight off a tyrannical king. I love the scene where Gabriel is in the church pleading for individuals to join the fight and no one would take a stand. Finally, it took his future bride, a female to inspire men to action.

What will it take to inspire you to action?

This war is not going to be fought with bullets and battle ships, but it does require huge sacrifice. It requires able bodies to sacrifice time, talent AND financial resources.

Do you have some T.V. time, some golf time, some scrap-booking time, and some financial resources from eating out three times a week that you can give to this cause? Our sacrifice is nothing in comparison to what our grandparents gave – yet like them, the freedom of our grandkids is at stake. It is worth the sacrifice.

This war is going to be fought in local elections. It is going to be fought in School Board Meetings. It is going to be fought in City Council and County Supervisor Meetings. It is going to be fought in “County Green Committee” meetings (who even know such things existed). It is going to be fought at state legislatures. It is going to be fought at your desk, studying idiotic regulations that are taking place in education departments, environmental departments, agriculture departments etc. – all of which are well funded machines, funded with YOUR tax money. Notice I did not mention the Presidency or even the Federal level – because the true battles are in our back yard. I HATE going to meetings. That said, I would much rather spend some time going to meetings that have been infiltrated with leftists, than be required to go fight in the trenches of WWII.

If we engage the enemy locally, we will win – and those victories will ultimately find their way to the Federal level.

Your help is needed. Reinforcements are required. Unlike the war of 1776, we will not have any French ships coming to back us up – your enlistment is required. Will you enlist – or will you be a “draft dodger?”

In the fall of 1787 Our Founding Fathers provided us a unique form of Government. It was based on pieces of tried and true principles of past governments. The Articles of Confederation was not working; the central Government was to weak. The 2nd Constitutional Convention was called to amend the articles. The first meeting, it became clear that amending the Articles would not work; scraping them and starting anew became the mission for the Convention. The doors and windows were closed so that privacy could be maintained. After many discussions, many arguments, not one Delegate was completely satisfied yet a Constitution was written and signed by the members.

When Benjamin Franklin was asked by a curious Woman, “Well Doctor (Franklin) what have we got – a republic or a monarchy?” Doctor Franklin’s response was; “A Republic, if you can keep it”. A Democracy was not on the table and only mentioned briefly. Why did such well educated Men ignore the concepts of a Democracy? They understood the failures of past Democracies, sure it appeals to Mankind but it is ineffective and the results are always the same, Mob-Rule. The representatives of the 13 States knew the adage, if two wolves and one lamb would vote on Dinner the lamb always dies! It was a fair vote but the lamb still gets eaten.

One aspect our Founding Fathers included within the U.S. Constitution was the Amendment process. They knew certain unknowns would give reason to add to the Constitution. Many felt that the sovereign States with Constitutions would provide basic rights and liberty to the People. Others felt the U.S. Constitution should provide them. Ten Amendments were added to the Constitution which proclaimed Rights and Responsibilities for individuals and the several States.

Many in the Convention hoped the basic principles would be maintained. Some unfortunately, began to erode the principles even in the early days of our Country. Some later Amendments have overturned the principles of government our Founders created. The worse, in my opinion are the 16th and 17th Amendments, for both threw out tried and true principles, our Founders gave us.

The 16th Amendment not only created the Progressive Tax System and Internal Revenue Service, it tossed the phrase and principle of “to Promote the General Welfare”. This phrase provided equal standing for all Citizens concerning due process and the “Rule of Law”. For any Federal law created it must be promoting all the People, not a special interest, corporation, or group. Public roads are a good example of this whereas a poor person can use the road just as a rich person. It provided a common welfare or means, to transport people and commerce. The 16th Amendment needs to be repealed, the IRS needs to close. The huge Government Program is a failure, the results of this tax have caused business to leave the Country and stunt growth.

Thomas Jefferson wrote much on the subject and over the years his quotes have been combined to explain his beliefs.

I place economy among the first and most important virtues, and public debt as the greatest danger to be feared. To preserve our independence, we must not let our leaders load us with perpetual debt. We must make our choice between Economy and Liberty, or profusion and servitude. If we run into such debts we must be taxed in our meat and drink, in our necessities and in our comforts, in our labors and in our amusements. If we can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of caring for them, they will be happy. The same prudence which in private life would forbid our paying our money for unexplained projects forbids its disposition of public money.

The 17th Amendment has also eroded the “Rule of Law” and States Rights. Once a Senator was responsible to their State, they were chosen as each State prescribed by State Law. Most State legislatures would appoint their U.S. Senators. The Senators were to look out for the best interest of their State. Today the Senator is looking out for himself, if he can convince enough voters in his or her state to vote for him he keeps his job. Senators today are not concerned with their State only the individual voters. Now this may seem trivial but a balance of power between the States and Federal Government has been lost because of the 17th Amendment. This balance has shifted power to the principles of a democracy. The Founding Fathers believed the Senate would check the whims of the people and representatives in the House. Today the Senate also listens to the whims of the people, no check or balance of powers.

Today we are seeing the full horror our Founding Fathers wanted to avoid. The debt ceiling was raised another 2 trillion or so dollars and soon our Federal Government will be in debt to the staggering amount of over 16 trillion dollars. The principles of Democracy which everyone or should I say the majority of the voters enjoy will destroy our credit, labors, and Country. Repealing these two Amendments will result in the closure of many redundant Federal Agencies, Commissions, and even Departments. Those responsibilities will be returned to the several States with a huge cost savings for all taxpaying Americans. We as Americans are once again struggling with our principles; do we want the “Rule of Law” or “Mob Rule”? The next election will set the course as all past elections have!

Zelizer and I agree on one thing – this is no way to run a government. But the Communist News Network contributor and I quickly part our ways from there. In his August 1st editorial piece for CNN, Zelizer blasts away at the Tea Party Republican block in the House for actually demanding that Congress show even a little spending restraint. In contrast, many Tea Party groups believe this latest debt deal, while a step in the right direction, does nothing to solve our growing debt crisis.

Zelizer and other progressive liberals have been screaming about a coming U.S. financial Armageddon if we don’t agree to spend more money we don’t have. Never mind the debt disaster now looming before us in plain view. Never mind the fact the US government makes enough current revenue to keep paying the interest on existing debt and to keep paying all pay and entitlement checks owed.

Worse, Zelizer and other progressive (read: socialist) liberals have to step over the dead bodies from the healthcare ‘reform’ battle to blame the Tea Party for actually expecting Congress to work together and do its job. Perhaps they forget how liberal politicians railroaded the healthcare plan right over the Republicans in their effort to push out a plan over 55% of America doesn’t want.

They also have to use a double standard to simultaneously condemn Republicans for demanding a little fiscal restraint during the debt increase debate. However, it was apparently entirely acceptable when the democrats did the same exact thing to protest President George W. Bush’s policies during his second term. Of course, Zelizer delivers a flop of an argument here – that Tea Party Republicans were causing a crisis by not giving in to unrepentant spending that would make even a drunken sailor embarrassed. Instead, he argues we should just steal – I mean tax – more from the successful and industrious Americans to give to, well, whoever the next ‘victim’ happens to be.

In short, Zelizer is in every sense a ‘useful idiot’ in the socialists’ hands! The only thing increasing taxes would do is to increase spending and decrease jobs. In fact, there’s plenty of data to suggest the federal government would actually collect less under a larger tax structure. Still, I would (temporarily) take a small tax increase to get a Balanced Budget Amendment. This one amendment would solve most of our fiscal problems faster than Paul Ryan’s budget plan ever could and would force fiscal discipline on even the most unrepentant socialist liberal.

The real problem isn’t that we’re not taxing enough. The irrefutable truth is that we keep spending money we don’t have! And even this latest compromise signed just yesterday will not right the ship and keep it from sinking. We may have slowed the intake of water, but the ship is still going down, rats and all! There’s only one way to stop our ship of state from sinking, and that’s to stop spending. Yes, it is that easy, so stop making excuses. Zelizer, stop wagging your empty tongue at the Tea Party and offer a real solution to address a real problem. Let me give you one last hint – it’s the spending, stupid!

Nominated on the first ballot, Loyola will be the Republican nominee in November 8 General Election.

Loyola becomes the 27th Republican nominee for the Virginia Senate this year. With nominees selected or candidates announced in 35 of 40 Virginia Senate Districts, Republicans have fielded an impressive list of strong candidates in their campaign to become the majority caucus in the Virginia Senate.

“Ben Loyola’s record of service to our country and accomplishments as a small businessman and entrepreneur will make him a great addition to the Senate of Virginia, further strengthening the Senate Republican Caucus,” declared Senate Minority Leader Thomas K. Norment, Jr. (R-James City). “As a principled conservative with deep roots in Hampton Roads and a proven record of service, he is an ideal choice to represent the 6th District in the Senate of Virginia.”
With 45 days remaining until the August 23 Primaries, Republicans have already selected nominees in 27 districts. The Republican Primaries on August 23 will determine the Party’s nominees in seven Senate districts. In six other districts, a party-run nomination method will be used to determine the nominees. While Republicans will have nominees in at least 35 of the 40 Virginia Senate Districts, Senate Democrats have announced candidates or declared nominees in just 24 Districts.
The 6th Senate District is comprised of Accomack, Matthews, and Northampton Counties, and portions of the Cities of Norfolk and Virginia Beach.
