This Tuesday, May 10th, the 4th Circuit Court of Appeals will hear the Virginia case against ObamaCare.

Please join us in support of Attorney Gen. Ken Cuccinelli’s case against ObamaCare for a Hands off My Health Care rally. This health care bill is onerous, expensive, unconstitutional and must be overturned. This is your chance to make your voice heard and fight back against the tyranny of the federal government!

Who: AFP-VA, AFP President Tim Phillips, and the hardworking citizens of Virginia
What: Rally against ObamaCare
Where: 4th Circuit Court (1100 East Main St Richmond, VA)
When: Tuesday, May 10th at 10:15 AM
Why: To tell the government: keep your hands off my health care!

Federal judge Henry Hudson ruled in December that the requirement that every individual purchase health insurance was unconstitutional, but the U.S. Department of Justice appealed the decision. Cuccinelli had sought an expedited path to the U.S. Supreme Court, but was denied. The 4th Circuit Court will now hear the case.

The ObamaCare monstrosity is a trillion dollar boondoggle that will pile inescapable debt on America, harm health care, limit access and choices in medical services, discourage doctors from continuing in practice, raise taxes and destroy jobs. For the good of the future of this country, ObamaCare must be stopped.

Aside from the obvious harmful effects of the law, there is also an important Constitutional principle at stake! If Congress can tell you that you must purchase a product or service of any kind-there is no limit on what it can also mandate on otherwise law-abiding citizens.

The fight is far from over and we must continue to make our voices heard. Please join us as we fight for our freedom – freedom to make our own health care choices and freedom from government overreach!

Sincerely,

VCDL will be participating in a media event set up by the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (CCRKBA) this Wednesday, March 30th, starting at 11:30 AM in Washington, D.C. in front of Fox News (corner of North Capitol Street and Louisiana Ave. NE).

The event will have a large billboard display saying, “Gun Save Lives – 2,191 Americans use guns for self-defense every day”

Starting today (Monday), the truck with that billboard has already begun driving the streets of DC. It is a counter to anti-freedom New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s road show billboard, which says, “34 Americans are murdered with guns every day.”

If you are in the area, drop by for the event!

Here is CCRKBA’s press release:

http://www.ccrkba.org/?p=2580

CCRKBA ‘GUNS SAVE LIVES’ EVENT SCHEDULED WEDNESDAY IN DC

Monday, March 28th, 2011
BELLEVUE, WA – The Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms will hold a special media event featuring the rolling “Guns Save Lives” billboard on Wednesday 3/30/11 at 11:30 a.m. at the corner of North Capitol Street and Louisana Avenue N.E. outside the Fox News DC Bureau and C-Span.

Appearing at the event will be CCRKBA Public Affairs Director John Snyder, CCRKBA Legislative Director Joe Waldron and Virginia Citizens Defense League (VCDL) President Philip Van Cleave. They will be discussing the benefits of firearms ownership, and what gun prohibitionists are trying to hide with their current effort to scare the public into supporting additional restrictions on gun owners.

Anti-gun billionaire New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg has teamed up with Mayors Against Illegal Guns to send a moving billboard truck around the country claiming that 34 Americans are “murdered with guns every day.” CCRKBA Chairman Alan M. Gottlieb said, “Bloomberg’s campaign tells less than half of a story, so we’re setting the record straight with the help of several outstanding Arizona gun rights activists.”

“Bloomberg’s organization would be more aptly titled ‘Mayors Against Self-Defense’,” said Joe Waldron “Their campaign of hysteria and the mis-information it is spreading, inspired CCRKBA and the Second Amendment Foundation to send out our own truck and ‘truth squad’ to several major American cities over the past few weeks”.

CCRKBA’s mobile billboard arrived in Washington, DC Monday, and has been traveling the streets with a simple message: Guns Save Lives. CCRKBA and VCDL will have handouts available, and will answer questions.

With more than 650,000 members and supporters nationwide, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms is one of the nation’s premier gun rights organizations. As a non-profit organization, the Citizens Committee is dedicated to preserving firearms freedoms through active lobbying of elected officials and facilitating grass-roots organization of gun rights activists in local communities throughout the United States. The Citizens Committee can be reached by phone at (425) 454-4911, on the Internet at www.ccrkba.org or by email to InformationRequest@ccrkba.org.

This past Saturday, MoveOn.org and SEIU planned to have 1000 union members descend on Richmond to show their “solidarity” to the members of the union workers in Wisconsin occupying the state capitol building. Best laid plans being what they are, only around 150 people showed up. I say people rather than union members because most of the attendees were not in a union. No, they were your average everyday supporters of MoveOn.org and simply got an email telling them to show up.

All in all this was a very tame event. Most people did not bring their own signs even and organizers were passing them out to people as they showed up. Organizers tried several times to fire up the crowd to no avail and even started by attempting to lead the crowd in union chants at the beginning. If it weren’t for the signs, this would remind me of a typical Richmond Spring celebration with the toddlers in cute outfits and the dogs and bongo players. Maybe the attendees thought this was a spring festival?

The speakers claimed this is class warfare against the workers with children and women specifically at risk of being attacked. One speaker blamed the Tea Party for the warfare and budget problems. (Eh?!?) Several shots were taken against McDonnell. Speakers were incensed that WI public employees were asked to contribute 5% towards their own pension. Then they went into a tirade about how Virginia public employees are abused because they have to pay for their own benefits and can’t do collective bargaining. And then there was this one speech trying to blame Virginia for Wisconsin union woes. I couldn’t quite understand what connection they were trying to make that because Virginia banned mandatory collective bargaining it empowering other states to do the same.

INTERESTING FACTOID: Forced collective bargaining was banned in Virginia in 1993 and was signed into law by our Democrat 1st elected black Governor Douglas Wilder. Bet they didn’t know that.

Anyway, see you at the next Spring Festival.

For more enjoyment watch a short video of these poor organizers trying to fire up the crowd:
